How could I become a Freemason?
Our fraternity has a wonderful history, which dates back more than three centuries and is open to men of good character, regardless of religion, background, origin or differences.

People might think that to become a Freemason is quite difficult. It's actually straightforward.

If you believe that Freemasonry is for you and would like to know more about it, with a view to joining one of the Macclesfield Lodges, we would like to hear from you.

We have included a membership application form below, which you may wish to complete and send off to us by clicking on the 'Submit' button. Or if you are not ready to join, we suggest that you click the e-mail link below and send brief details of your background and interest in Freemasonry together with your address and telephone number. It is probable that a member will call on you by appointment and discuss the issues you need to know to help you make a sound decision. You would then in due course be invited to meet a committee of members from a Lodge you might be joining, prior to being balloted for membership of that Lodge. This is an informal and friendly discussion, probably at the Masonic Hall in Riseley Street, quite simply for you to ask any questions about Freemasonry and for them to find out a little about you. All being well, a date would then be fixed for your admission.

So, if you have a developing interest in one of the oldest fraternal and charitable organisations in this Country, you must believe in a Supreme Being (although which God you worship is not an issue, and Lodge meetings are not religious ceremonies; neither is the discussion of religion allowed in Masonry) and you are at least twenty one years of age, get in touch.

It may prove to be one of the most rewarding contacts you will ever make.

Suggested steps
After reading the pages on this site, and if you are still interested in becoming a Freemason, we advise that you first talk to a family member, friend or colleague whom you already know to be a Mason. They will be able to explain to you what they can about the fraternity and help you find a suitable Lodge.

If you don't know anyone who is a Freemason and you would like to join one of the Lodges in the Macclesfield area, either complete the application form below, or send an email telling us a little bit about yourself and your reasons for wishing to join to: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

If you live, or want to join a Lodge in another part of Cheshire, The Provincial Grand Lodge of Cheshire, is there to help you.

It is based at Ashcroft House, 36 Clay Lane, Timperley, Altrincham, Cheshire WA15 7AB
Telephone: 0161 980 6090 or alternatively you can email the office: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Arrangements will be made to meet you socially to find out more about you, and to give you a chance to find out more about us.
